GroupServer

GroupServer is a web and email application that enables people to collaborate and share content and conversations in groups and communities online. It is useful to organisations and tertiary distance learning providers when people want to work together but are distributed across multiple organisations, places and projects. GroupServer is designed so that structured and unstructured content can be shared easily and securely. It is useful for tacit knowledge management and constructivist eLearning.

Content is generated by people in groups. GroupServer is a social content server. It organises content around groups and groups around content. Each participant has a personalised view, a multi-channel interface that can be tuned to their social and informational world. It lets you find information via people and people via information.

GroupServer provides email groups with web archives and shared file areas linked into a secure website that can be managed and customised easily. As for all social software, the user for GroupServer is the group.

GroupServer is open source. It uses Zope, Python, XML, XSLT, CSS and RSS.

GroupServer was developed by GroupSense, IOPEN and ZYPE.
